The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Associate Counsel with 3+ years of practice experience to join our growing family law team. This is a litigation-focused role: you will take carriage of active files with the support of experienced partners and staff, with regular court appearances and meaningful courtroom advocacy from the outset. Family law experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Take carriage of family law files from intake through resolution, including parenting, support, property division, and agreements
- Appear in BC Supreme Court and Provincial Court, including chambers applications, case conferences, and trials
- Negotiate settlements and draft pleadings, affidavits, agreements, and orders with precision
- Conduct legal research and provide clients with clear, strategic, practical advice
- Work with lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants to manage deadlines and deliver excellent client service
Qualifications:
- Called to the Bar in British Columbia and a member in good standing of the Law Society of BC (required)
- 3+ years practicing law in BC with litigation experience; family law experience preferred
- Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills
- Client-centered approach with excellent communication and analytical skills
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively
- Proficiency with legal technology (LEAP experience an asset)

Job Purpose:
The Community Legal Clinic (CLC) program provides legal navigation, advocacy, and summary advice to clients located in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The CLC Managing Lawyer manages and provides support to CLC staff and provides legal supervision to advocates and direct services to clients.
Qualifications:
