AWARDS OF DISTINCTION

TLABC Awards 

TLABC presents its Awards of Distinction (formerly Bench & Bar Awards) to honour members of the legal community. The 2026 awards will be presented at the annual Spring Soiree. 

2026 Recipients:

Distinguished Jurist Award - The Hon. David Crossin KC
President's Award - Gavin Cameron

The TLABC Distinguished Advocate Award

First presented in 1982 as the Bar Award, the TLABC Distinguished Advocate Award honours members of the profession who have demonstrated the ability and drive to go beyond the call of duty, whether for the benefit of their clients, the betterment of the legal profession, or to further the cause of justice, in general, for the people of the province. Typically, recipients have given generously of their time in pursuit of improving the process of justice, protecting the rights of citizens or helping advance the interests of the profession as a whole.  

The TLABC Distinguished Jurist Award

The TLABC Distinguished Jurist Award (previously called the Bench Award) is presented to members of the judiciary who exemplify the finest qualities of a jurist while serving as a member of the bench in British Columbia. Recipients are well-respected among their colleagues and members of the bar, and are recognized for their courage, regardless of the wavering political and public climates of the day. The first TLABC Bench Award was presented in 1982.

The TLABC President’s Award

The TLABC President’s Award is reserved for special recognition of a member of the bar, another profession, or a member of the public. Honourees have provided positive contributions to the profession and the public good, often through pro-active efforts aimed at enhancing society in general, be it through legislative improvements, raising awareness about important issues or advocating as a result of concerns.
