Statement on the passing of the Hon. Murray Sinclair

Trial Lawyers Association of BC is saddened to acknowledge the passing of the Honourable Murray Sinclair, a distinguished leader and former Senator who dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice, truth, and reconciliation.

As the first Indigenous judge in Manitoba, and the second in Canada, Sinclair's career was marked by a tireless dedication to people’s rights and dignity. His leadership as Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission profoundly impacted our nation’s journey toward healing and understanding.

TLABC extends its condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his legacy continue to inspire us all toward a more inclusive and compassionate future.
