How do I change my list server settings?
Click here to be directed to the list server page that allows you to change your list server settings. After logging in, you will be on a page called List Viewer. You will see a column of all the lists you are signed up for, and each one has a little drop-down menu where you can choose “Normal” or “Vacation/Web-only”, among others. When you wish to suspend your list service, choose “Vacation/Web-Only”; when you wish to resume your list service, choose “Normal”. IMPORTANT: you must click “save” after making changes or they will not take effect
What's my Username/What's My Password?
Every time our website is updated with new members, the server will automatically send a message by email that gives new members their username (usually first initial/last name) and invites you to choose a password. If you missed or deleted that email, all you have to do is go to any of the pages on our website where you are asked to log in, there will also be a little link beside the log-in area that says “I forgot my usename/password”. Click on this link and enter your email address when asked, and the server will send you another version of the intro email so you can get yourself set up.Remember to be sure and use the same email we have on file for you, or the server will not recognize you and you will be denied.
How do I search or browse TLABC list server archives?
Click here to be directed to the list server page that allows you to search or browse messages. After logging in, you will be on a page called List Viewer. Under the title, there is a row of options where you can choose to: Browse recent messages on every list you are signed up for, either chronologically or by subject, and for the last 30 days, or 60 or 90 days. Search by keyword, or author or whatever. Plus changing your list settings (how you receive the lists), and other options
Does TLABC get involved in cases on behalf of individual citizens?
TLABC does not get directly involved in individual lawsuits, but our association will (where appropriate) apply to intervene – or assist on certain cases and appeals – if the case is of significant public interest and has the support of our members.
Does TLABC offer legal advice or provide legal referrals?
No. TLABC does not provide legal advice to anyone. TLABC functions primarily as a member-services organization, supporting lawyers with their practice by providing them with an interactive education and communication network. Our association is staffed by non-lawyers. Lawyers are the only people qualified and approved (by the Law Society of BC) to provide legal advice in our province. TLABC does not provide legal referrals, but will direct members of the public to contact The Lawyer Referral Service, which is operated by the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. The service can be accessed Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, by calling 604-687-3221 or 1-800-663-1919.
