Presented by Dr. Owen Williamson, in association with Pain BC

On June 1, 2016, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC instituted legally binding standards that physicians must follow when prescribing opioids, benzodiazepines and stimulants. A number of pain medications fall under these new standards. The College has since stated that the standards and guidelines will be amended, based on concerns raised by Pain BC and the wider chronic pain community. In this webinar, Dr. Owen Williamson, head of the Pain Medicine Section of Doctors of BC, discusses the medical and legal implications of the standards, including their impacts and potential challenges to both physicians and chronic pain patients who require these medications to maintain basic function and quality of life. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A.
